So the weekly weigh-ins are completely optional, except the one tmrw. I was wondering what would work better for me...
1. Weigh in weekly: that would give me an idea of how I compare with the rest of the contestants. But it may also mean that I'll know early up front that I'm not even in the running and get demoralized. On the other hand, if I am in the running I may get complacent and slack off.
2. Don't weigh in until final weigh in: This means I just have to work my ass off and see what happens on game day.

you know, jo, you're steadily losing 2 lb/week and learning a lot of good life habits about perserverence, dedication, and patience when things don't seem to be going as fast as you'd prefer. just remember, no matter what happens on weigh-in day, you're developing healthy, life-promoting habits to last you the rest of your life. focus on those good changes...the results will come, maybe not in the time you want, but when you get there, you will have learned so many things about yourself and how you respond to life that all your hard work will have been worth it!
wow adam and susan are very wise people indeed. you've already demonstrated that reaching your goal is not a matter of "if" anymore. it's a matter of "when." you truly have made a complete change in your lifestyle and are perhaps among the top now. healthy eating, ultra disciplined exercise and persistence for so many weeks - i have not seen you flinch at all! so keep it going and not only will you reach your goal but you'll have a routine which will give us a long, healthy and ultra-fit life together!
Weigh in!!! The curiosity will kill me!
susan & mikee: All good thoughts but i also want to win the contest!!! :P And even if I don,t I feel pretty good about myself :)
haha iris! you're funny!
if i may comment on your nutrition...you may benefit from upping your intake of raw veggies (like leafy green salads and steamed broccoli, etc)and clear fluids (like water) and decreasing the packaged stuff. not only will that be healthier, but i believe it will assist with your weight loss. as an aside, a few years ago, i felt i was addicted to sugar, so i went on a "no processed sugar" eating plan...i had to eat more unprocessed foods (vegetables, fruits, nuts/seeds) since all the things that came in packages had added sugar and its derivatives...i got to eat a huge salad every night, i lost my sugar craving, and i also lost weight. what do you think?
I think in theory susan, that is awesome and IDEAL for my body. However, the reason for my failed weight loss in the past was because I couldnt control my diet... I love food and sweets!! So as a rule of thumb for my new lifestyle now, I control my calories, but I only eat things I like. So raw veges? Mmm... gross!!! Maybe one day I'll get there? :P
I definitely need to increase water intake so thanks for the reminder! I can however do steamed broccoli and I will actually have that tonight! :)
...so i guess the next step is to broaden things that you like to eat!! :) yay for good challenges! :)
why are you always right? sigh.
