:: Day 110 - Summary ::

Each morning i hop out of bed (by gentle nudging from the husband) ready to face the day! Most days we do some kind of run because of the 1/2 marathon. i really enjoy those morning runs even though we barely say a word to each other during that time - but it is time just "being" together. My favorite activity of the week is actually our shopping for produce on saturday morning at the farmer's market. It's so therapeutic as we work our way through the crowds and fill up our canvas bags with goodies. So thankful for such regular, mundane but meaningful events. 2 days to the 1/2!

ABC Juice + flaxseed + 1/2 cup soy milk (All blended together, shared by mikee)

Lunch with Karena @ Dish Dash
Argh... i had this filo chicken pastry thing. While I didnt regret it while i was eating it I am totally regretting it now. I can barely keep my eyes open and i feel sssooooo sluggish. Not good... Not good....

Main meal @ tomatina's

It's date night! We're watching eagle eye! I love movies! We may end up eating out because in Mikee's own words "I need more protein". Poor guy!
--> 1 beet salad, 1 light lasagne, 1 olive oil spaghetti, shared with mikee

:: evidence for soup ::

Got this in the papers today - 7 scientific weight-loss tactics. I actually do 5 of the 7 things recommended (food diary, cut sugar, have soup, eat slowly, drink water) but disagree with one of them(eating cereal). The soup might be a reason why the weight loss is more drastic lately. I do feel that I am eating less after consuming the soup.

:: corn smut... scarred for life ::

I opened up some corn yesterday for my soup, which i bought from whole foods btw, and i see this:

SSSOOOOOOOOOO gross. I was going to puke and i still feel like puking when I think about it. never seen mold that looked so bad. But according to this article... it's a delicacy in mexican cuisine??? if anyone wants to try this "delicacy" next time, i'd be happy to save it for you. argh so gross... shudder.

:: Day 109 - Summary ::

Activities: 2.0 mile last tapered run. I'm losing weight like nobody's business this week. Odd. Very odd. Could it be the soup madness? Another piece of good news is that.... I'm FINALLY weighing less than my husband, Mikee!!! HAHAHAAHA It feels great, I'll tell ya. I hated being the "larger 1/2".

: Spicy swiss chard soup from yesterday, buncho carrots

Homecooked food for Mikee and Derek

:: the nutrition bitch ::

If i'm not careful, that's what people could end up calling me behind my back. Just a few days ago, we met up with some friends to grab dinner. While waffling about where to go, someone suggested chilli's. Like rotten food in my mouth, I immediately spat out - "I'm not going if that's where you guys are going".

I've typically been really easy going with stuff like that so it must have shocked my friend quite a bit. Oh poor sean. I pulled my husband aside and we had a discussion about it. I can't be a bitch and impose my desires on others - i returned to the room and went with the masses. We ended up going to Chilli's but thank God they were packed so we ended up at cafe amilia which although isnt my ideal choice, was still slightly better.

I think there's nothing wrong with stating my dietary preferences but i should never threaten to leave otherwise. What a bitch I was. Thank God for my hubby that keeps me in check.

:: Day 106 - Summary ::

:: King Corn ::

I watched this on NetFlix instant replay today. Highly recommend it!
KING CORN tells the story of two friends, one acre of corn, and the subsidized crop that drives our fast-food nation. As the film unfolds, IanCheney and Curt Ellis, best friends from college on the east coast, moveto the heartland to learn where their food comes from. With the help offriendly neighbors, genetically modified seeds, and powerful herbicides, they plant and grow a bumper crop of America's most-productive, most-ubiquitous grain on one acre of Iowa soil. But when they try to followtheir pile of corn into the food system, what they questions about how we eat—and how we farm.

:: Day 105 - Summary ::

Activities: Hmmm....I made more stock thanks to Anna's leftover rotisserie chicken and a cornish game hen I found in our freezer! Such satisfaction in making one's own stock!

Oh and I also realized our label-maker is working again! So off I went to organize our spice cabinet! Yay! I love being organized!

8am: ABC Juice mixed with 1 nectarine and ground flaxseed
1 bowl of fresh vege soup - yellow squash, cabbage, cauliflower, onion, carrots

12pm: We had some fresh wild black cod from the farmer's market (H&H Fresh fish) that we had to cook, so we made a light lunch! Black cod miso and tofu salad on top of organic soba. Served with a 1/2 bowl of this morning's fresh vege soup.

Main meal with friends @ Limon Peruvian Rotisserie
